What to include so we can quote
Eight facts decide most quotes. Send them in one message.
Cargo type. What it is, how it is packed (cartons, pallets, drums, loose, in a container) and its value if the paperwork needs it.
Weight. Gross weight in kilograms, in total and per piece for large items.
Volume or dimensions. Total cubic metres (CBM), or length, width and height of each piece.
Number of packages. How many cartons, pallets or pieces.
Origin and destination. City and country, plus the port, airport or full address. Add the postcode where one exists.
Ready date. The day the cargo can be collected, and the date it must arrive if that is fixed.
Incoterm. The Incoterms 2020 rule in your sales contract, such as FOB or DAP. It says who pays for what and who carries the risk. If you are not sure, send the contract term or leave it blank.
Special needs. Dangerous goods (send the safety data sheet), temperature control (send the range), oversize or very heavy pieces (send dimensions and lifting points).
Documents help too. A packing list, a commercial invoice and photos of the cargo answer many questions before we ask them.
