Cross-border trucking, Hong Kong and mainland China

We book road freight between Hong Kong and mainland China, for full truck loads and part loads. Cross-boundary trucking needs a licensed cross-boundary carrier, so we book licensed carriers and coordinate the loading, the documents and the handovers.

What it is

Cross-border trucking moves cargo by road across the boundary between Hong Kong and the mainland. The truck, the driver and the carrier all need the permits for that crossing. We do not run trucks. We book licensed cross-boundary carriers and coordinate the move.

A full truck load (FTL) uses one truck for one shipper. A part load, or less than truck load (LTL), shares a truck with other cargo. Both need documents that match the cargo at the boundary checkpoint.

When to use it

  • Cargo must move between Hong Kong and a mainland China address.
  • Goods go between a port and a mainland factory or warehouse.
  • You buy from mainland suppliers and need regular pickups brought to Hong Kong.
  • You export from Hong Kong and need the goods delivered to a mainland consignee.

What we handle

  • Booking licensed cross-boundary carriers for full and part loads
  • Cargo and delivery documents for the move
  • Coordination of loading, handover and delivery appointments
  • Customs declarations at each side, coordinated with licensed customs brokers
  • Advice on what documents the carrier will ask for

How it runs

  • Quote: you send the cargo details and both addresses, and we price full-load and part-load options.
  • Carrier booking: we book a licensed cross-boundary carrier and confirm the pickup date.
  • Documents: we collect the invoice, packing list and any permits, and coordinate the declarations with licensed customs brokers.
  • Loading and sealing: the carrier loads at the pickup address and the cargo is counted and sealed.
  • Crossing and delivery: the carrier presents the cargo at the checkpoint, where customs can inspect it, then delivers at the agreed slot.

Good to know

  • Some mainland addresses are far from the boundary. Local trucking may be needed on the mainland side, with a handover at a transfer point.
  • Restricted or controlled goods need permits that the shipper must supply. Ask us early if you are unsure. See Hong Kong trade declarations.
  • Documents must agree with each other: description, quantity, value and consignee. A mismatch is a common cause of a held truck.

Questions

Do you own the trucks?

No. We book licensed cross-boundary carriers and coordinate the move.

Can you handle part loads?

Yes. We can arrange part loads that share a truck, and quote a full truck for comparison.
